Halcyon, The Golden Age
The forest beckoned him. He walked through the verdant landscape, simply absorbing the sounds, smells, and sights of the terrain. As the warm, humid wind flowed through his pale hair, he thought of his past year of travel. He’d gone to many types of locales: Frozen towns, deep caves, arid deserts and high mountains. Some of his time had even been spent at an extraplanar library, learning of creatures strange and familiar, and gaining a new companion. At the thought, he glanced at his side at the oddly carapaced, wolflike creature beside him with a smile. Yes, his travels had been vast and varied.
Through it all, though, he valued the friends he’d made. He had an image of his wizard friend Lindal, huddled next to other Chosen, in a figure made of wicker. He remembered drinking with Rurik and Merdor in Tuireadh, which had been fun, despite the two day headache. And of course, he remembered his time with Skyler, travelling through many lands, just sitting together by the fire, always content. He would miss all of them, though he hoped they would visit him when passing through. He still felt happy, though, that he would be staying to protect the forest. For the first time since his mother and sister ran into the forest, he felt at home again.
